Hearing Test Audiogram

"What is a hearing test, and how do I read my audiogram?"
Dr. Reza Ataee:
"Otoscopy, Tympanometry, Pure Tone Audiometry, and Speech Audiometry are key parts of a comprehensive hearing assessment.
During your hearing test appointment, I begin with some questions to understand your medical background, then I do a physical check of your ears. I will perform an Otoscopy, using a small handheld light called an otoscope to gently look into your ears and check for earwax or any blockages.
Then, I will do Tympanometry using a device called a tympanometer with a soft tip that gently tests air pressure to measure how well your eardrum moves and check the pressure in your middle ear.
Then, we move to the soundproof booth for the listening checks. I will conduct a Pure Tone Audiometry test where you listen to soft beeps at different pitches, followed by Speech Audiometry where you repeat words to measure how clearly you understand conversation.
Finally, we look at the audiogram, a graph that displays your Hearing Level (loudness) across different Frequencies (pitch). You will see Red Circles (O) for your Right ear and Blue Crosses (X) for your Left ear. I will also show you the Speech Banana, a shaded area on the graph shaped like a banana where most conversational sounds occur. This helps us see exactly which speech sounds you might be missing.
I will explain your results immediately and discuss the best solutions for your needs.

Hearing Aid Fitting

"Does my hearing aid fitting service include a 1-month trial?"

"Yes, the one-month trial is a core part of the hearing aid fitting process at my hearing clinics and hearing aid stores.
During your appointment, we will review the best options for your hearing loss together, and you can select the hearing aids, type, color, and brand that suit you. I will then order them, and they generally arrive within five business days. At that point, we will schedule your fitting so you can start enjoying them.
You will have the time to test your hearing aids in your daily life, and we can make any necessary adjustments along the way. If the specific model we chose isn't delivering the results we want, we simply switch to a different option or brand until you are fully satisfied with your hearing.

Hearing Aid Warranty

"Does the 3-year warranty cover repair, loss, or returns?"

"The 3-year warranty gives you peace of mind by covering repair and loss. Returns are only possible during the 1-month trial period.
The manufacturer will repair your hearing aids if defective materials cause a malfunction. If a hearing aid is accidentally lost or damaged beyond repair, it will be replaced one time only with a replacement fee. Returns for a refund are only accepted within the 1-month trial period and are subject to a restocking service fee.

"Yes, I provide full checkups and repairs for all major brands, even if you did not purchase them from me.
I can reprogram your devices to ensure your hearing aids are up to date and adjusted to your hearing changes. I also handle routine cleaning and maintenance, as well as parts exchanges like receiver replacement and domes replacement. For hearing aids still under warranty, I will work directly with the manufacturer to give the best service possible.
Since my clinic is also a hearing aid store, you can shop for any cleaning tools or accessories you need for your hearing aids.

Hearing Protection Custom Earmolds

"Yes, and the process is quit simple, here is how it works:
We start with a 30-minute appointment to take your ear impressions and send them to the manufacturer to be made. It usually takes less than 10 business days for the molds to be delivered, then your 2nd appointmen to show you how to insert and remove them safely and to make sure they fit comfortably.
